The squirrel in the road

The squirrel in the road

A few days ago I was walking down a busy road and spotted a squirrel , very much alive, lying with its body sort of frozen and twitching, its head about 30 cm into the road. Cars were whizzing past closely, but it was just still, and staring up at me leaning over it- as if it had been clipped by a car. I didn't want to leave it to get crushed by another car, so waited a minute, talking kindly to it. I decided to gently pull its gorgeous fluffy tail - to drag it out of the road to safety- (hoping it wouldn't bite me!)

The second I touched it, it was like a bolt of electricity went through it- energising it back to life. It jumped up and ran for safety in the trees - away from danger.

It reminded me that all it takes sometimes is some contact or communication and support from another living thing- to give us energy and spark us into action.

I love doing this with clients- sort of mentally pulling their tails to remind them they don't have to stay stuck- and really already have all they need to really thrive- not to just wait for life to happen- as long as they react to some timely help- just like my lucky squirrel.
