A parent receives an email from the principal of an elementary school that reads as follows:
"I’m writing to ask for careful oversight of your children's access to prohibited content.?I caution you against your children watching Squid Game on Netflix. ?The age limit of 16+ has been set for the series, which features brutal scenes of violence, sexual acts and suicide. ?Unfortunately, the series is being watched by children as young as 7 years old. ?My teachers are aware of the issue and will intervene, but we don't plan to directly comment on Squid Game so as not to arouse any interest from pupils."
Indeed, the popularity of Squid Game (as of Oct. 19, 132M people have watched it) has already caused some schools to report children recreating the team games that were used in the series.?The problem is not just the acts of violence, but the message that the film carries: violence as punishment for failure. ?For example, in a Belgian school where children played a game of "green light, red light", children that lost were beaten by their peers. ?Of course, such an understanding of competition is in stark contradiction with such values as fair play, healthy competition, respect for the rival.?
Do you let your children watch Squid Game?

3 年I let myself watch Squid games and maybe even that was a mistake ??????♂? I was waiting for some enlightenment but it did not come (in my point of view). But surely, this is not a thing for kids.
