My first experience using ChatGPT wasn't great.?

I received the adorable message above when I was doing some research for this article. I give the program a 0/10 for functionality...but a 7/10 for whimsy. Kind of like the mushroom retainers from Super Mario Brothers bellowing that the princess is in another castle. Yeesh.

The sheer number of articles about chatbots, NLP-driven AI, and (specifically) ChatGPT is astounding. Apparently, the program can ace interviews, author term papers, write resumes, gush out resignation letters, and get into law school.?

However, just the other day, another client shared a ChatGPT-written resume. We concurred--it wasn't pretty. Not even a little bit.?

Maybe we're safe for now.?

In between reading about chatbot "hacks," I find it interesting to juxtapose the musings of the Co-Founder of OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT), who suggests a possibly dire future:?

"...worst case is lights-out for all of us."

Hopefully not. For now, I'm not worried. Or at least no more worried that my Roomba will overthrow me anytime soon. Certainly not when it gets stuck under the furniture regularly. And maybe that's an apt metaphor for my experience with ChatGPT and AI in general--useful...unless it's trapped under the couch.?
