SQL Friday newsletter #10 - SQL Friday is back!

SQL Friday newsletter #10 - SQL Friday is back!

Finally, a new season of SQL Friday can start. We start this Friday (October 18) with a fairly new speaker from the Data Community - Haripriya Naidu

When: 18 October, at noon Central European Time

RSVP: https://www.meetup.com/sql-friday/events/304037880/

An attempt to live-stream the event to YouTube will be made, but due to changes in how New Teams use NDI, I'm not sure it will work, and therefore there's no YouTube livestream link in the invitation this time.

TempDB Contention: How to Identify and Resolve it

As a DBA, you know that TempDB performance is crucial to overall health and server performance. At the same time, you have tons of concurrent tasks running on your server that depend heavily on TempDB, causing a slowdown in performance.

In this session, I'll cover how the allocation of resources and workspace on TempDB is being managed. Next, I'll show you how to analyze the causes of contention and explore methods to identify and fix them. This includes configuring, and monitoring the TempDB to operate optimally on production servers.

Finally, I'll show you a demo on how to mitigate each of the contention types and how it varies across SQL Server versions.

By the end of this session, you will be able to address and resolve TempDB contention promptly, ensuring optimal TempDB performance in your SQL Server.
