Going down memory lane...

SPS Oslo started in 2013. It was initated by @Bj?rn Harald Rapp who was joined by @Magnus Aase, @Hussain Al Moussawi, @Mikael Svenson and myself. Quite a bit have changed since then guys! :-)

SPS Oslo 2013 had two tracks and nine speakers. In 2013 I think there was about 30 events being organized worldwide, the number of events being organized now is quite a bit bigger.

SPS Oslo 2017

SPS Oslo 2017 had 4 tracks, 13 sponsors and 33 speakers and approximately 300 - 350 participants attending (more than 400 signed up).

What is SPS Oslo all about?

SPS Oslo is all about the people in the Office 365 and SharePoint Community, about sharing knowledge and insight, about fun, about inspiration, about inclusion and involvement, about respect, about working together, and about building each other up. I guess some would say we are "competitors" out there. Still, when we are organizing an event and working with our customers in our daily life, we are partners and colleagues, sharing our knowledge, not only with colleagues from our own company, but also with our customers and our "competitors". We won't become less by sharing our knowledge, our know how, with others; we become more, AND our respective companies become more! I guess that's why we have fun doing what we do and it builds the passion for our area of expertise.

Speakers at SPS Oslo

SPS Oslo have been fortunate that a huge amount of great speakers have signed up and loyal sponsors backing us up every year. SPS Oslo have tried to select a wide and focused selection of speakers and encouraged local and new speakers, especially the women speakers, to take the stage and share their knowledge and insights. We are proud to see that so many great speakers are joining us, but would like to see more. We believe we have had a good combination of experienced and new speakers, as well as covered the most important areas of expertise.

I will keep on recommending women who knows SharePoint and Office 365 to take YOUR place on the conference stage! These experts have paved the way, when do you join us?

The SPS Oslo committee are now busy planning SPS Oslo 2018

Organizing SPS Oslo is done entirely on a volunteer basis and only possible if the whole community supports the effort. Remember the organizer team have full time jobs in their daily life as well.

The venue, food and material needs to be booked and ordered, and we all know these things doesn't come cheap in Norway. The conference have each year tried to keep it to a bare minimum, and still good. In addition, and this is the biggest job; speakers and sponsors need to be decided on, coordinated and followed-up, and the sessions organized.

SPS Oslo is THE SharePoint/Office 365 conference in Norway (I don't know about any other being organized?). The conference is free for participants, the dedication and level of speakers is high and rumour has it that the take-away from a Saturday at SPS Oslo is that you learn more than during that day than at many other (and perhaps expensive) conferences. I hope more of the consultancy houses and other Norwegian companies relevant to SharePoint/Office 365 realize the potential and value of spending a few marketing-kroner and time supporting the event. Changes in the SPS Oslo committee

After 5 years in the committee, the last three as the "octopus" I have informed the organizing committee that I resign from the committee work. Organizing the SPS Oslo event is a shared responsibility for the whole SharePoint and Office 365 community in Norway and the committee should change the members and leadership at certain intervals to keep it fresh and innovative! I will continue as board member of the Norwegian Office 365 Community and we are arranging network meetings throughout the year for the SharePoint and Office 365 community.
