Sprint Retrospective

Sprint Retrospective

Hey Everyone,

While getting ready to add value in my next role. Sharing quick details over Sprint Retrospective which caught my attention.

Let's learn about it together.

Sprint Retrospective - What?

A sprint retrospective is a meeting typically held at the end of an Agile development cycle to review what went well, what could be improved upon, and any other issues that need to be addressed to become more effective as a team.

Seems the same as Sprint Review - No wait !!

  • The Sprint Review brings together the Scrum Master, Product Owner, development team, and stakeholders to discuss and provide feedback on the deliverables or features in the current Sprint.
  • The Sprint Retrospective happens after a Sprint is completed to share what worked, what didn’t work, and what could be improved so the team makes the right adjustments for future Sprints.

Value - Based on the discussions in a retrospective, the team members execute changes and then proceed to the coming sprint with an incrementally improved process. This way fresh ideas are churned out and teased out by the whole team in the next Sprint.

Purpose

Why ??

  • Makes a secure environment for team members to exchange insightful opinions
  • It gives people a place to record victories, recognize accomplishments, and ultimately build team spirit.
  • Agile teams can assess "what all can be improved" during retrospectives, which allows them to continuously improve the procedures.
  • Members experience a sense of ownership when they express their ideas for improvement.

Conclusion:

An essential component of our scrum agile methodology is the sprint retrospective. We put the Agile "inspect and adapt" tenet into practice by conducting a retrospective. Sprint-by-sprint retrospective meetings are ultimately aimed at continuously improving a development project. It greatly raises the caliber of the final product as well as the caliber of the approach.

You can find more about the Sprint Retrospective examples in my next article.

Till then, Happy Learning..!!
