Springtime!

During a time of careful social distancing and hope that we are seeing progress in the Covid-crisis, perhaps we could all use a little positivity to ponder. Here's to better days...just ahead.

Spring has sprung, and it’s about time.  All seasons hold their sense of wonder and timeliness.  But spring holds a special place in the heart after winter’s chill. It’s such a glorious thing to be outside, to enjoy later evenings, family-filled outdoor spaces, and simple bird banter.

Authors have been celebrating the season for hundreds of years. They have waxed poetic about the birds, trees, budding flowers and delicious sense of abandon that heralds the season. We have gathered them and now give them to you!

Here are some of my favorite quotes about the spring. Read them and get excited; get outside.  Sit in the grass.  Stargaze.  Count clouds.  Take walks.  Breathe.  It’s springtime and great days lay ahead.

"Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems."  ~Rainer Maria Rilke

“Spring is the time of plans and projects.”  ~ Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

"May hath put a spirit of youth in everything."  ~William Shakespeare

"If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall."  ~Nadine Stair

"The earth laughs in flowers."  ~ E.E. Cummings

"The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful." ~ E.E. Cummings

“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.” ~Margaret Atwood

"Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!" ~ Sitting Bull

"It's the fans that need spring training. You gotta get 'em interested. Wake 'em up and let 'em know that their season is coming, the good times are gonna roll." ~ Harry Caray

"No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn." ~ Hal Borland

“Those who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God.” ~Thomas Jefferson

"Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'"  ~Robin Williams
