Spring/Summer 2023
From educating our team and visitors of the New Forest Code, to actively pledging to nurture our foundation, grow sustainable relationships with fellow New Forest partners and contribute to the wonderful work of Love the Forest.
This year we’re stepping things up a notch, committing to reducing our carbon footprint by 7.6% annually.
With a transparent approach to sustainability, we understand we might not always get it right, but we’re passionate about making a difference. To ultimately better protect our home, people and community.
Our recent introduction of the Green Butterfly, represents our ongoing initiatives and sustainable dedication. Wherever a green butterfly is found, a huge amount of behind-the-scenes research has been conducted, ensuring we are doing all we can to better our environmental contribution, such as this recycled paper produced from waste material, sourced energy and zero CO2 emissions from fossil fuels.
From Lawns To Meadows
Sustainable travel is increasingly important and we always encourage our guests to leave no trace, but there are many other ways our guests can expand their forest focus too, whether that be during their stay or when they return home. Creating bug hotels from fallen branches in gardens or logs from pesty trees is just one example. These can create wonderful habitats for solitary butterflies, ladybugs and some bees.
Another initiative is to turn a small patch of lawn into a meadow, by scattering wildflower seeds. Not only can this create a beautiful spot within a garden, as showcased by our Bartley Lodge and Burley Manor grounds, but is also extremely beneficial to our eco-system.
However big or small your forest focus, we encourage our guests to share their journeys with us @newforestcollection on Instagram and Facebook.
The New Forest Marque - A sign of true local produce
Committed to sourcing our ingredients from as close a radius as possible and more importantly sustainably. Our entire collection is recognised by the New Forest Marque for championing local produce on our menus. From picked-that-morning vegetables, freshly caught fish from in-shore day boats, free-range meat from local farms and eggs from happy hens. We’re so pleased to be able to support small artisan producers and their families.

Green Butterfly
Having actively committed to reduce our carbon footprint, we are continuously looking for innovative ways to expand our forest focus. That being said, we have recently introduced three new initiatives to improve our sustainability portfolio.

Welcoming our guests with our New Forest Hospitality extends far beyond a friendly face and personalised service. With the introduction of welcome mats, made from recycled fishing nets, we greet all our guests with our sustainable values from the offset. Whilst powering our hotels with renewable energy, offsetting our carbon usage through environmental, social, and economic programmes, allows us to support National Parks in Peru through conservation and enterprise. Ditching plug in air fresheners for PHS’s Airscent Eco further supports our carbon neutrality by using natural air flow to refresh the air.
Still or Sparkling
It’s no secret walking and cycling routes in the New Forest are one of a kind; acres of heathland, nosy ponies grazing and breath-taking scenery, we are spoilt with beauty.
That being said, our Collection is a proud partner of Refill, meaning we can top up your water bottles for free. Reducing the amount of single use plastics and thirsty explorers.
New Forest Trust Donation
We are incredibly passionate about the New Forest Trust . Their work in conservation, awareness and education is paramount to ensure our wonderful National Park remains untarnished for years to come. Since beginning our partnership eleven years ago, we as a collective have raised a staggering £90,000 in guest donations and kindly ask you donate £1 of your stay to this incredible charity too. After all, a problem shared is a problem halved.
Menus That Matter
We take great pride in our Great British menus. Every plate is served with a passionate sense of occasion with our chefs crafting a balanced selection of imaginative menus and traditional classics. Championing locally sourced, we are a proud member of the New Forest Marque ? , demonstrating true New Forest quality with every ingredient used and every tipple poured. Seasonality also plays a great role in the pride taken in our menus. Following the New Forest clock ensures our guests enjoy the taste of the forest with every bite.
