Springing into action: Advancing community and continuous improvement in animal agriculture

In addition to the arrival of the beautiful cherry blossoms in Washington, DC and much-welcomed warmer weather, the beginning of spring is marked by April as Earth Month - a time when the Animal Agriculture Alliance highlights the latest data about animal agriculture’s contributions to nutrition and environmental stewardship.

Our Sustainability Impact Report features a comprehensive collection of facts about how the animal agriculture community shares the same values as today’s consumers, with our never-ending commitment to animal care, environmental stewardship, responsible antibiotic use, food safety, and nutrition.

We were also proud to release our 2023 Annual Report earlier this month, which details insights and metrics regarding the Alliance’s engagements and achievements in the last year.

Some of the many engagements highlighted in the annual report include:

  • ?The June 2023 launch of our new quarterly restaurant/retail roundtable. The roundtable brings together Alliance members within the restaurant, retail, and foodservice community to discuss issues impacting their businesses in a pre-competitive environment. Topics addressed by the roundtable has included pressure campaigns by animal rights extremist organizations, best practices for supplier surveys, and how to strengthen relationships and connections with diverse stakeholders.
  • The Alliance’s first-ever attainment of official observer status for the 2023 UN Climate Summit (COP28) and partnership with The Protein PACT to secure participation by farmers, ranchers, and animal agriculture experts who were able to attend COP28 in Dubai and speak on numerous panels.
  • Our relationship-building and information sharing with counterparts around the world - including meeting with the Australian Meat Industry Council , speaking at the Mexican Poultry Congress, collaborating with European Livestock Voice , and more.

We are making important strides in ensuring animal agriculture is actively represented in the debates and discussions shaping our future, but the need is ever increasing. Our next major milestone to strengthen the community is our Stakeholders Summit, coming up May 8-9 in Kansas City. With the theme “Ready, Set, Solve! Advancing Animal Agriculture,” the Summit will unite animal agriculture leaders and allies, providing dynamic programming to advance shared understanding of the issues at hand, and offering many opportunities for critical networking and relationship building.

Dozens of expert speakers from within and beyond animal agriculture anchor our Summit agenda. Can’t-miss sessions include “Building Your Team: Connecting Across the Supply Chain on Animal Welfare” with Haley Grimes , Jeff Pigott , and Jon Hixson , and “Passing the Baton Around the World: Animal Ag on the Global Stage” with Eric Mittenthal , Nicholas Gardner , and Allison Pigatto , MS, RDN.

Registration is open through Friday - don’t miss your chance to join us in Kansas City. If you can’t make it in person, a recording pass is also available at a discounted rate to watch the sessions on your own time after the event.
