#Springfairsmyarse!
Deborah Donnelly
I major in bad art but every now and again I paint a winner! NO NFTs
I thought a Spring Lamb is appropriate for this rant!
My husband told me I would do any fair in order to get away for the weekend (I have young kids) and he is probably right.
I am just back from the Glasgow Spring Fair and I am absolutely exhausted! UP THE SCOTS!! Saw plenty of kilts and had some Scottish slab fudge which was the sweetest thing I have ever tasted. Blasted with pure sugar. There is also a foodie area too (and lots of Gin tasting )
As an artist I am new to the whole retail end of things. In my studio I have pieces that are nearly ten years old. In retail this is not good. In less its vintage or I am dead.
For the last 4 years I have been designing my own brand.
Designing is the easy part , getting it to the shop floor is a whole other story. Coming from a Fine Art background I thought once I had finished this collection that was it for another few years. I usually have a solo show every 5 years But no no no...not in retail. Its Spring, Autumn, Winter and well not so much summer but its non-stop!
Of course I am finally getting the hang of it now and this Spring I am dipping my foot into fashion (which I love!)
So this is my new happy bright Spring accessories. Cashmere Scarfs, wallets, purses, bags, ipad holders etc... I am strongly influenced by the Circus, the movie The Greatest Showman, Ballet and the the Can Can Can!!
A normal day for me is to dress in my overalls and paint. The Spring fairs are an excuse to dress up, booze up, meet cool people and a chance to book into a hotel room on my own and just sleep off that gentle gin buzz!!
Will I be doing more....Absa'F'lutely!!
Loved it!!
