Spring is in the air! Can you feel it?
Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth and recommitment. For writers, it’s the perfect season to dust off that half-finished manuscript and finish it. Or it’s the time to take that fledgling idea you have for a book and actually begin to write it.
I admit, my own writing project has laid dormant all winter. I’m at peace with it though because I’ve been working hard on a project that’s just as special to me — the 2024 Birrarung Riverfest.
(If you know me even a little, you’ll know that I love swimming in the Yarra as much as I love writing.)
With 40+ gatherings over three weeks from 1 to 22 September, there’s something for everyone at Riverfest. If you’re in Melbourne, please join me at Love Stories of the Birrarung on Thursday 5 September at Fairfield Boathouse. Register
Last week I appeared on 7’s Sunrise program sharing my passion for river swimming. Even if I look a little ‘Where’s Wally?’ (according to my son), I hope I got the message across about the link between wellbeing and our connection to the river, nature and community. What do you think? Read/watch.

Now back to you, and your writing project! How’s it going? Are you making progress?
Perhaps your writing needs some renewal and recommitment over spring? If so, here are three events to help you re-establish your writing practice in the company of other women.
In the meantime, I hope to see you at a Riverfest event.
Sending you sunny spring vibes for your writing renewal.
Yours in writing and the river.
