Spring time is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s a time for new beginnings and to renew your health and lifestyle. I encourage you to join me on making fresh starts and renewing your personal wellness journey. Here are seven things to renew this season that I believe can bring anyone looking for better health to get the results they want.
Pursue your Personal Needs
Focus on your reality and what your needs are to get healthy and stay on track. Take the first step to ensure results all year-round by thinking about what it’s going to take to be successful. Are you filling your cup first? I encourage all of you to put yourself first and fill your cup so that you’ll have the energy to help others around you.
Focus on Healthy Habits
You might have made a few resolutions for better health and wellness at the beginning of the New Year, and if you’re one of the few who stuck to them that’s great! But if you’re like most of us, you tried and slipped. Don’t worry, spring is a great time to refocus your energy on healthy habits, especially eating right and exercising. Focus on one thing at a time and don’t overwhelm yourself with too many things. Maybe it’s going for a walk daily, eating more veggies, going to sleep a little earlier and making more time for yourself.
Practice Gratitude
Focusing on the positive helps us keep a positive attitude and while that won’t help you lose weight, it’ll definitely make you feel better mentally. In the spirit of cultivating gratitude, take a little time at the end of each day to list out a few things that have brought you some happiness that day. It doesn’t matter what’s on the list, only that you have one and are making an effort to think about positive things.

Find Ways to Give
Seek out family members or neighbors who might need some assistance with cutting their lawn, cleaning up, grocery shopping or maybe just a conversation. There’s no such thing as selfless giving, because you get such wonderful feelings from the act itself. It’s also a great way to keep encouraging yourself that you’re still an active and positive part of your community.
Clean Your House Physically and Mentally
Spring time is a great way to start some spring-cleaning and that can apply to both your house and your mental wellness. Warmer weather allows you to open windows and let fresh air into your home. Start looking through your belongings that haven’t been used since last season and donate the items to charity. A cleaner home will help reduce your stress. It’ll help renew your mindset and your mental wellness. Let go of negative thought patterns and let spring help move you forward into a new season with more positive thoughts that increase your own personal happiness.
Exercise!
Spring offers several options to increase your physical activity. With no snow on the ground, bike paths are now available, as well as nature trails and parks. One of my favorite things is to embrace gardening; it’s a great form of light exercise and perfect for getting your garden and yard ready for summer. Exercising and being outdoors after a long winter can work wonders for boosting your mood and improving your mental state.
Enjoy Seasonal Foods
Spring is a great time for new fruits and vegetables to try. The new season will allow you to increase your intake of these healthy foods. Seek out local farmers markets since they’re a great way to purchase fresh produce. Also look into new recipes that incorporate these seasonal items and include them in your balanced daily diet.
