Spring is here...

Spring is here...

... and it is time for a new newsletter, but first of all, I am sorry the newsletter did not come out in April, but I had some work-related issues that I needed to sort out.

But here we are, and it is time for a round-up of news.

However, before we get to the news, I just wanted to highlight this TechTalk on Business Performance Analytics (BPA), if you have not already seen it: https://youtu.be/Qb6uo_er6nE?feature=shared.

FINANCE

Automate Reconciliation Postings with Matching Rules

We kick off with a small but significant automation function to preview in April, namely the ability to make advanced matching rules in bank management automatically create transactions in GL, AP and AR. So now we can automate creating of postings such as bank fees. More information here: https://releaseplans.microsoft.com/?app=Finance&status=new&planID=059ae112-28ba-ee11-a569-00224827e905.

Petty Cash

In the same vein, we are now able to manage petty cash in a similar way to bank accounts giving a more formal and structured approach to the area. More information here: https://releaseplans.microsoft.com/?app=Finance&status=new&planID=6acfc3b4-97dc-ee11-904d-6045bdeb8873.

Globalization Studio

The Regulatory Configuration Service (RCS) has finally migrated to the main Dynamics 365 Finance application, so we no longer need to switch to a separate app to configure the Tax Calculation service. More about the migration here: Regulatory Configuration Service merge to the Globalization Studio workspace - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn.

Bank Account Lifecycle Management

And finally, we now seem to get better control over the lifecycle of bank account master data. With this coming change, more audit controls are introduced, and a new change approval workflow is introduced. Read more about the coming change here: https://releaseplans.microsoft.com/?app=Finance&status=planned&planID=d599e112-28ba-ee11-a569-00224827e905.

Consolidation Templates

For customers using the Consolidation capability in Dynamics 365 Finance, this is great news: Microsoft is introducing consolidation templates where the user can set up how a consolidation should be run and reuse the set up instead of having to set up the parameters every time consolidation is run. In addition, the consolidation process will come with a review function and audit trail. Here was me thinking that May was going to be a quiet month on the Dynamics 365 front, but no! Lots of great new stuff to enhance the user experience and drive more efficiencies.

Enjoy the spring - see you back in June...
