Spring has Sprung

Spring has sprung. Life not only springs, it explodes. A new cycle starts when we go from sleeping to awakening, from winter to spring.

Closer to the Equator the seasons are mainly two: rainy and dry. The transition from one to the other is very clear. Wild fires are suffocated by the rain, the brown dryness disappears covered by a lush cover of green and colourful blossoms. As you move towards the planet's poles the four seasons are very clear cut: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. I start with Winter, because you start the calendar year (1st of January) cold and then transition to Spring.

Winter is a time of rest, of introspection, of being at home finding refuge. In nature, as we are part, life becomes dormant. It is there, it is present, but it seems silenced and covered by the blanket of cold air, rain, and sometimes snow (depending where you are). Then, as by magic rather than the movement of the Earth, Spring arrives.

In the part of the world I live now, England, Spring is announced by the blossom of a thousand flowers flying on the trees, but also emerging from the warmer soil and the dormant bulbs of daffodils, bells and tulips. So, "Spring has sprung" from the trees, from the ground and it jumps into sight...it explodes.

This proof of life that explodes invites us to explore the metaphor of life, plants and nature to our human #organisations as #livingorganisms. Emma Ramsay recently shared a post and video about #daffodils and #organisations; and it also reminds me of the concept of #biomimicry explored by Daniela Esponda , Melina Angel and other organisational innovators in Latin America.

So as a new natural cycle starts, let's begin by awakening the different possible intersections of our different #living #organisms we are part of as beings in the #naturalworld, but also of the #organisations we create and give life every day of our lives.

I’m loving this!! Thank you for sharing these thoughts Allan - there is SO much focus on January and the New Year being the beginning of things but actually, at least to me, this time of year feels much more comfortable as a “start of new things” and it makes sense when I see it through the lense of the rebirth of Spring!! ????

It really does feel a though 'spring has sprung' here in the UK - exploded into our lives ?? In just the same way that life is springing in the organisational world - there to be nurtured and tended as we look to connect and deliver our own purposes for the benefit of the wider world. Time to do some #organizationalgardening within our organisations and our networks
