Spring Into Growth

Spring Into Growth

It’s the time of year when birds chirping wake you up in the morning, the weather is getting a little nicer, you start wearing shorts, feeling the sun on your calves again, and your evening walks and commute are no longer pitch black.

Yep, it’s almost springtime.??

Springtime is all about rebirth, new beginnings, and growth. Flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing, and generally, you feel happier as you enjoy more sunshine and invest more time outdoors.

Everything in the natural world starts to wake up after being dormant in the winter. Since you are part of the natural world, it’s the perfect time to explore the value of growth and start sprouting from the seeds of that expansion.

If you are reading this, there is a pretty good chance you have the core values of Growth and Learning.

Why?

Following our recent analysis of 2,532 people who took our core values quiz, Growth, and Learning were tied as the top core values among all people!

(with a +/—1.8 percentage point margin of error at a 95% confidence level)

I wasn’t too surprised when I saw this because if you are interested in exploring your values more deeply, you most likely have a growth mindset.

In her book Mindset, Dr. Carol Dweck introduced the idea of a growth mindset. This concept comes from research on improving learning and suggests that we can change and improve our abilities.

That ties closely with how I define my value of Growth.

Growth is pushing past my edges to see what is possible. And for me, this means physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Growth for me could be climbing a mountain for the first time, trying a new strategy for our business or considering something as a possibility that I did not believe before.

And that might be completely aligned or totally different for YOU. That’s what’s so fascinating about core values—we define and embody them in unique ways. The way to live a meaningful life is to simply uncover which ways they fill you up the most and then choose that on purpose!

Simple and complex all at once.

To springboard your discovery process, here are 10 ways you can activate the values of Growth and Learning this springtime and beyond.

  1. ??Embrace a Growth Mindset: Cultivate the belief that your abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort, learning, and persistence. View challenges and setbacks as opportunities to grow rather than obstacles that cannot be overcome.
  2. ??Practice Gratitude and Positivity: Maintaining a positive outlook and being grateful for your opportunities and experiences can fuel your motivation for growth. Gratitude can also help you recover from setbacks more quickly, keeping you on track toward your growth intentions.
  3. ??Seek Feedback: Regularly ask for feedback from friends, family, mentors, and colleagues who share your values. Constructive and affirming feedback from people who embody the qualities you wish you nurture in yourself can provide valuable insights into areas for improvement and growth.
  4. ??Invest in Learning: Dedicate time and resources to learning new skills and knowledge. This could be through reading books, taking online courses, attending workshops, or pursuing further education. Dedicate a small portion of your day to learning something new. Check out our special below!
  5. ??Prioritize Learning Over Outcomes: Focus on what you can learn from each experience rather than just the outcome. This approach will make you more open to taking risks and trying new things, knowing there’s value in the process regardless of the result.
  6. ??Practice Self-Reflection and Celebrate Progress: Regularly reflect on your experiences, decisions, and the outcomes they lead to. Acknowledge and celebrate your values-driven achievements. Consider keeping a journal to document your thoughts, feelings, successes, and areas for improvement.
  7. ??♂?Step Out of Your Comfort Zone: Growth often happens when you push yourself beyond your comfort zone. Try new things, take on challenges that scare you, and stretch your limits. Don’t be afraid to try new methods or strategies. Experimentation can lead to discoveries about what works best for you and fosters innovation and creativity.
  8. ??Cultivate Positive Relationships: Surround yourself with people who support and encourage growth. Assemble a group of trusted individuals who can offer guidance, support, and feedback on your growth journey. This can be friends, family, mentors, and professionals who embrace your goals and values.
  9. ??Meet New People: Interacting with people from different backgrounds can provide new perspectives and ideas. Attend community events, join online groups, or participate in forums related to your interests. Have conversations with people who have different viewpoints and be open to seeing things from a different lens.
  10. ??Activate Your Values: Whether Growth is one of your core values or not, you are growing any time you choose to activate one of your values. Take our free quiz, pick one of your core values, and take action to do something to activate it that makes you feel good.

If I don’t feel like I am growing, I feel like I am dying. And I know that might seem extreme but I believe we are here on this earth to grow and evolve.
