Spring Forward! VMware EMEA Cloud Briefing Round Up

Spring Forward! VMware EMEA Cloud Briefing Round Up

As we formally welcome longer days with the clock change this coming Sunday, there is no time to lose in planning your next steps when it comes to VMware. And it’s in this time-saving spirit I’ve put together a five-minute read with five time-saving tips based on what myself, Daniel Hicks and Izzie Hedges learned at the EMEA Cloud Briefing for UK Service Providers.

1. Keep key dates in mind

It’s a horrible feeling when you wake up and realise you forgot to put your clocks forward. What’s worse is missing a vendor deadline when it comes to reporting usage. So, we’ve noted down the key dates you need to put in your diary now:

28th March 2024 – Appointment of Rights must be completed. Whether you’ve been invited back as a Pinnacle or Premier Partner, or if you want to become a Registered Partner, you’ve only got a few days left to complete your paperwork.

31st March 2024 – The deadline by which CSPs must upgrade to VMware Usage Meter 4.8. As stated in this announcementAny VMware Cloud Service Provider employing a previous version of Usage Meter must promptly upgrade to this specified version before the commencement of the?Broadcom Advantage Program?on April 1st, 2024. This adherence is of utmost importance and non-negotiable.”

10th April 2024 – If you are an existing CSP, all outstanding service provider usage under the old programme needs to be submitted. Submitting by this date will help us to help you get this efficiently invoiced and booked.

6th May 2024 – Official launch date for the new VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) programme. This is when you will be able to request license keys for the new bundles.

Your time-saving tip: Worried by any of these dates? Get in touch with us now and we’ll help you plan the best course of action.

2. Partnership will fuel growth

At the beginning of the month, we decided to proactively encourage a ‘Partner 2 Partner’ approach as a means to tackle challenges including talent scarcity and meeting new VMware programme requirements (check out Dan’s post here on how we can help to make that happen).

As a result, we had been brokering introductions between partners throughout our community prior to the announcement that ‘White labelling’ will be acknowledged as a route to market. This is great news for those partners who are now ahead of the curve in terms of being able to serve customer requirements.

Your time-saving tip: Speak to myself or any other member of the Business Development team to discuss who, and how, best to partner with for your future growth ambitions.

3. Familiar faces are in new places

It was reassuring to see that the speakers included names who are familiar to many of us within the channel. They included:

  • Martin Hosken talking to about the technical direction of travel (it’s great to see that he now steps up to the Worldwide Field CTO for Cloud Partners role)
  • Dave Funnell outlining commercial strategy
  • Suki Birchenough talking through the role of Cloud Commerce Managers (that’s us!) as well as key dates

Thanks to their tenure and knowledge, it meant that they took all questions that were put forward, even if there wasn’t a clear answer.

Your time-saving tip: Let us be your aggregator when it comes to questions and keeping on top of changes! We work incredibly hard to maintain close relationships with our VMware counterparts and it’s likely that we can help you find the resources or people you need faster than you can say ‘Cloud Commerce Manager’.

4. Turn towards value

With the commercials now set, the conversation with end user customers has to be about value. And the same goes for the conversations we have with you. If we’re allowed to blow our own (daffodil) trumpets, it was brilliant to see how the partners we’ve worked closely with throughout the Broadcom acquisition were better prepared and better connected than those who aren’t being supported by their aggregator (aka Cloud Commerce Managers).

We really are here to deliver value and hope that our actions including free content like these blog posts, making partner introductions, and going the extra mile to get deals over the line all add up to delivering service that is way beyond a line item.

Your time-saving tip: Check out these recent helpful articles and always, always get in touch!

5. Don’t be kept in the dark!

As Suki outlined on the day, the role of Cloud Commerce Managers like TD Synnex is incredibly important to maintaining a healthy partner ecosystem. Based on our work in understanding the new commercial, technical and organisational landscape so far, we know there are lots of opportunities for all partner organisations.

With that in mind, it would be akin to keeping yourself in the dark if you didn’t explore what the changes mean for your business. As just one example, we are now seeing resell opportunities in the on-prem space for CSP partners where previously they did not exist – let us help you shine a light on where these are.
