Spring at FlowWest: Conferences, Field Trips, and New Employees
FlowWest has not been wasting any time getting a move on in the new year. Our team has traveled to Klamath, led projects in Clear Lake, brought on a new partner, and had many surprises and adventures in between.
FlowWest in the Field
Catch our team out in the field any time of year! Here are some of our recent excursions.
Jan 12: Our Winter Holiday Party was a success at Plank Oakland ! The NorCal team played a few great rounds of bowling and arcade games, and got to decompress after a successful year.
Jan 19: FlowWest traveled to the North Coast Resource Partnership Quarterly Meeting in Ukiah, CA to network with the community.
Feb 13: The Data Science team entered the DANGER ZONE! Mark R. Tompkins , Ashley Vizek and Maddee Wiggins (Rubenson) recently traveled to Klamath and were able to get a front-row look at JC Boyle, Copco, and Iron Gate reservoirs on the Klamath River.
Feb 21: Our remote-first development team, which includes Jordan Hoang, Ben Pintel Willie Whitfield and Hunter Herrera, traveled to Sacramento for a client meeting and to test their Spring Run Juvenile Production Estimate app in the field.
Feb 27-29: FlowWest co-founder Mark R. Tompkins and Data Analyst Elizabeth Stebbins had a blast reconnecting with California water agency colleagues at Association of California Water Agencies DC 2024 Conference. The duo also had an amazing time meeting with and connecting with FlowWest's partners at Bureau of Reclamation. There were very productive conversations with the state's elected officials about the importance of open water data in addressing California's major water management challenges.
Feb 29: Data Analyst Maddee Rubenson attended the OpenET Applications conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. OpenET uses open-source models to model water consumption at daily, monthly, and yearly time-steps. The conference showcased OpenET applications across geography and sectors to foster discussion about critical water management challenges.
March 27-29: Cameron Tenner and Julius Ratemo, both engineers at FlowWest, are attending the Salmonid Restoration Conference in Santa Rosa this week from March 27-29. Some say hello!
