Spring Cleaning - UpStuff
At least in Texas, Spring is here. Soon to come to you, too, wherever you are. And time to move clocks ahead – for most of us. And a good time to do up-stuff cleaning, which we should do every quarter anyway.
Up-stuff is everyplace in the house that is not often cleaned, that is overhead, and that collects, traps and rains down dust when disturbed by HVAC or breezes from open windows. Furnace filters in the ceiling. Open cabinet tops in the kitchen and bathroom. Window and door upper trim. Ceiling fans. Window sills, if the windows are high. Tops of hanging art and statues. Leaves of tall real or fake indoor greenery. The tops of bookcases.
This entails a ladder and a vacuum cleaner to clean tops of things. And long-handled dusters for sills and fans. And it will loft a great deal of dust into the air that will settle down on the stuff that usually gets cleaned – and that will take at least two hours to settle.
This is a problem, and an opportunity.
The problem is that you can’t both do up-stuff and regular stuff cleaning in the same visit (unless you take a nap for two hours, HA!).
The opportunity is that you can charge for the up-stuff cleaning visit and schedule an extra visit in the next day or two to do the regular cleaning and collect all the dust that has settled. If you have been showing how much stuff your cleaning collects in regular visits, you should be able to show a significant increase in stuff in the post up-stuff cleaning.
Up-stuff dust in not just dirt. It is allergens, it is fur. It is dead bugs. Every client will appreciate the elimination of that stuff.
Show and tell. Show and sell.
