Here is our easy step-by-step double-hung window cleaning tutorial that will allow you to look out a fresh new world.

Cleaning the interior glass of your window

We recommend that you start with cleaning your interior glass if it is a bit chilly outside.

·        Start by inspection for any removable interior grilles. If any, lift them from the glass near the edges of the frame. Nonetheless, leave the grille clips in their usual positions. Refer to various guides online to learn about the best safety practices when you embark on working around windows.

·        Then, you should clean your windows normally. Our double-hung windows are designed particularly for the quick and easy cleaning process.

Cleaning the exterior

We suggest that you begin your cleaning on the lower sash.

  • You will need to unlock your window to clean this part thoroughly. Lift it by approximately two inches.
  • Find the wash assist tabs that are set above the window sash on all the sides of the frame. Ensure that you slide these wash assist tabs until they are completely wedged down perfectly between the frame and the sash.
  • Then, use both hands to grasp the lower sash at the outer edge of the window near the wash assist tabs. Pull strongly towards yourself. After a slight resistance, the sash will tilt inwards towards you.
  • Proceed to tilt the sash and support the glass with an object, such as a chair but never tilt more than 90 degrees.

The upper sash:

  • Leave the lower sash supported by the chair or the support object that you used.
  • Slide the wash assist tabs that you used for the lower sash to the top of the window frame.
  • Lower the upper sash to reach the title wash tabs currently on the top edge of the upper sash and maintaining the sashes over an inch apart.
  • Move the assist tabs inwards as you simultaneously pull the upper sash towards you and continuously tilt it till it gently rests on the lower sash.
  • Now, it is possible to clean both the upper and the lower sash.

After Cleaning

You will now need to close the upper and lower sashes to their original positions.

  • Begin by lifting the upper sash till it snaps back to a completely vertical position.
  • Push the upper sash down about an inch and slide it to the top of the window frame.
  • Finally, lift the lower sash till it snaps back into a vertical position. Ensure that you push it into its assigned place.

Grilles

If you removed them, put them back to their original positions against the glass and firmly pressing into their clips all along the grille. It is advisable to make sure that the grille fits firmly on the glass.
