Spring Clean your Utilities

It is that time of year where we can throw our windows open and have a good Spring clean. It is great for mental health and gives us that organised feeling. Whilst you do your housekeeping, we are keen to check and validate energy bills for our customers to do a spring clean on their energy accounts. Inaccurate energy bills are something that we have grown to expect in our line of work, we are more shocked if we process a bill that passes without any discrepancies found.?

Checking your bills yourself can be tricky without a fancy validation system but it isn't impossible. There are easy things you can check for and if there is anything you are unsure of, you can always approach us for guidance and help. We can then point you in the right direction. Some good places to start are;

• Checking your reading on your bill against what your meter says
• Do your rates marry up to what you agreed in your contract?
• Do you know what VAT you should be paying?

Some other elements that we check are non-commodity costs which are non-energy costs. These are a little more tricky to validate without a system to aid you but again, knowing what your contract stipulates and checking this against what you have been built is a great starting point. The benefit of ensuring you are being billed accurately is that this often leads to money being recovered which can go directly back into your front-line services.?
