Spring is in the air

Coach | Facilitator | Optimist - Challenging leaders to embrace a Better Before Bigger mindset
Would you like to take your business to the next level, but are unsure how best to do this?
If you want some fresh ideas and tested frameworks that can help you improve your company for the future and explore exciting new opportunities, I have created this newsletter for you.
This isn’t about quick fixes. I want to guide you towards sustainable success, but to do this you have to get better before you can get bigger.
The Challenge
When your expectations meet reality, this is satisfactory (pleasing even). When your expectations are exceeded by reality, this produces delight.
However, when results fall short of what you hoped to achieve, this can lead to frustration. Let these unfulfilling feelings develop and they can become a detrimental influence, in and of themself.
What can be particularly frustrating is when those around you, whether this be colleagues or family, cannot understand your current dissatisfaction. From an exterior perspective your business seems to be running well and bringing in profit, but you know things could be better. Maybe you would like to make your processes more efficient or reassess your strategy to think ahead.
This ambitious mindset is a prerequisite of being a leader; you don’t have to settle.

The Solution
As the birdsong becomes that chirrup sweeter and the green returns to the trees, this is a great time to feel optimistic. Springtime offers a host of new opportunities, natural, personal and professional, so harness that spirit of goodwill to revitalise your energy and stimulate success.
The crux of making progress is working out what’s controllable and what’s uncontrollable.
Uncontrollable issues, such as the external influences, should not consume our thoughts. If there’s nothing we can do about them, then what’s the point in getting nervous? Controllable issues can be solved and consequently shouldn’t trouble us. Just add them to the to do list.
I understand this may sound easier said than done, but the trick is clearly prioritising the things that most require your attention, approaching the aspects that are less urgent when you can, and free yourself of the rest.
Whist external factors and restrictions definitely play their part, so much of reaching a goal is about believing in yourself.

My Suggestions
- Work out what makes you dissatisfied specifically. This might sound like common sense, but troubling thoughts can often seem abstract and confused the more you sit on them.
- Discover what the root cause is. What is actually bothering you on a practical level? Who or what is making you feel this way?
- Dedicate specific time to rectifying this issue. Without this commitment, you are likely to procrastinate. Make yourself responsible for tackling it.

Hello, I’m Nick Cramp. I’ve been working as business owner and coach now for around three decades.
During this time, it often occurred to me that many leaders feel unfulfilled by their work, which seemed a pity given the amount of time and effort they have invested. I want to change this, so have created and collected a selection of the best strategies for business improvement.
My main mantra is that an organisation must get better before bigger. The reason for this is that without the best people, processes and systems, you have no springboard to reach that next level and sustain this success.
In 2021, I published my book Better before Bigger – Rethinking Business Success, which alongside my coaching and courses, outlines a holistic approach to running a thriving company.
I want to guide ambitious leaders towards the best practices and results, so their reality can align with their ambitions.
