Spring 2024 Internship at Watts Water Technologies

I am thrilled to share my experience and accomplishments as a Supply Chain Analyst Intern at Watts Water Technologies this Spring (2024). Watts Water Technologies is a globally recognized leader in high-quality water solution technologies. Since joining the team in Summer 2023, I have had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various fields of supply chain management, including purchasing/sourcing, supply chain planning, manufacturing planning, inventory and warehouse management, advanced data analytics, inventory optimization and demand planning. My time here has been invaluable, providing me with extensive knowledge and exposure to the industry.

During this internship, I have built upon the responsibilities I undertook in my Summer and Fall 2023 internships at the company. I was actively involved in the following tasks:

1.?????? Reduction and Reusing Obsolete Inventory: Upon recognizing high inventory levels of obsolete products, resulting in excessive storage costs, a collaborative effort among the engineering design, manufacturing, and supply chain planning teams was initiated. I significantly contributed to the strategic planning and production scheduling to repurpose existing inventory by reworking components into new parts, leading to an approximate $750k cost savings for the company.

2.?????? Collaboration with Forecast and Demand Planning Teams: Fostered closely with the supply chain planning and demand planning teams to enhance forecast accuracy, optimize material availability, and maintain seamless production operations. Additionally, I conducted comprehensive analyses by comparing last year's actual sales against forecasts to identify demand patterns, quarterly sales trends, and forecast discrepancies, thereby providing invaluable insights for strategic decision-making.

3.?????? Souring operations: Supported the sourcing team by facilitating effective communication with suppliers and expediting materials receipts to ensure timely replenishment of component.

4.?????? Manufacturing Planning: I worked in close coordination with Supply Chain Planning, Manufacturing, and Purchasing Teams to synchronize production timelines for key components according to predicted demand, sales orders, and safety stock needs.
