Spring 2024 Internship experience at @ Samsung Electronics America

Hello, LinkedIn Community! I am excited to share with you about my Spring 2024 internship with Samsung Electronics America . This semester, I got the opportunity to work with the Logistics Claims division as a Logistics Analyst Intern and learn about upstream movement of products. On a daily basis, I'm responsible for submitting claims for lost/damaged products, ensuring accountability with our onsite 3PL (UPS), and collaborating with reverse logistics team & ECOM Engineering for swift issue resolution.

During my internship as a Logistics Analyst at Samsung Electronics America, I had the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and technologies that are driving innovation in the logistics industry. This hands-on experience not only allowed me to enhance my technical skills but also provided valuable insights into the practical application of these tools in optimizing supply chain operations.

One of the key tools I utilized extensively was Advanced Excel with Macros. By leveraging the power of Excel automation, I streamlined data analysis processes, enabling faster and more accurate decision-making. From extracting tracking shipments using UPS Quantum view to analyzing transportation costs, these Excel skills proved invaluable in increasing operational efficiency.

Business Intelligence (BI) tool played a crucial role in my internship. I learned to transform raw data into visually compelling and intuitive dashboards, providing stakeholders with real-time insights into key performance indicators (KPIs) and enabling data-driven decision-making across the logistics operations.

Using Tableau, extracting customer purchase order report and checking to see whether customer got refund for lost products. Additionally, I had the chance to work with specialized logistics software like Intelligence Logistics where I can check to see and download 2000 tracking numbers at one time. With the in-memory computing capabilities of SAP S/4HANA allows real-time analytics and reporting on live transactional data using T-codes, enabling better decision-making and faster response times. These powerful tools allowed me to optimize transportation routes, manage inventory levels, and monitor warehouse operations with precision. Gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading software prepared me for the technological challenges of modern logistics management.

Furthermore, my experience with N-ERP, Samsung's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, provided me with a comprehensive understanding of how logistics operations integrate with other core business functions. I learned to navigate the system, extract relevant data, and leverage its capabilities to streamline supply chain processes.

Throughout my internship, I actively participated in projects focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and service level enhancement. By combining my analytical skills with advanced tools, I contributed to significant improvements in areas such as transportation route planning, vendor management, and warehouse operations.

This invaluable experience at Samsung Electronics America has not only deepened my knowledge of logistics and supply chain management but has also equipped me with practical skills in utilizing cutting-edge tools and technologies. As I embark on my professional journey, I am confident that this hands-on experience will give me a competitive edge in the dynamic logistics industry.
