Spring 2024 Internship Experience at CAPS

Delighted to share insights from my recent spring internship experience at the Center for Advanced Pain Studies (CAPS). CAPS is to elucidate fundamental mechanisms underlying chronic pain and migraine while pioneering innovative therapeutic solutions through collaborative partnerships across academia, public sectors, and industry.

As a data science intern at CAPS, I was responsible for focusing on automation of manual processes, pipeline creations and the development of interactive dashboards for existing pipelines. This role not only honed my skills in interpreting complex data pipelines but also allowed me to contribute meaningfully to our mission of advancing pain management strategies.

Beyond my primary responsibilities, I actively participated in researching on new pipelines building and analyzing the different forms of data transformations. Additionally, my role extended to contributing to decision-making processes within the department, allowing me to gain a holistic understanding of our research objectives and strategic initiatives.

I am profoundly grateful for the guidance and mentorship provided by my manager Mark Chavez , whose industry insights were instrumental in shaping my professional growth during the internship. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all esteemed researchers, fellow data scientists, and postdocs at CAPS for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this enriching journey.

Moreover, I express my gratitude to the professors at The University of Texas at Dallas for equipping me with the necessary technical skills, and to the entire staff at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas , for their continuous assistance and support throughout the internship.
