Spread Joy & Power: Shop Black-Owned Businesses This Holiday Season

This time of year isn’t just about giving—it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The holidays are a perfect time to celebrate community and creativity by supporting Black-owned businesses. Every dollar we spend is a reflection of the world we want to see, which is why prioritizing Black-owned businesses during this season is so important.

At Wocstar, we believe stories are gifts that connect us, inspire us, and shape the world we dream of. So we ask you, what gift could be more timeless and magical than a book?

BOOKS

Wocstar Book Party -? Whether it’s fiction that uplifts, memoirs that honor our history, stories that inspire and educate, or works from trailblazing Black authors—both classic and contemporary—buying books this season means investing in knowledge, celebrating culture, and supporting creativity while amplifying Black voices and Black-owned bookstores.

Sign up and check out our full reading list, with a focus on books by Black authors. We are powered by Bookshop.org to ensure a percentage of the sales go to BIOPOC book stores.?

Your choices matter this season, but If your shopping is all done, here are two other ways to uplift Black businesses.

  1. Spread the Word: Share about a business on social media with hashtags like #ShopBlack and encourage your friends and family to do the same.?
  2. Sign Up & Follow: Community engagement is so important for small business owners. So make sure you sign up for their newsletters and follow them on social media. Including our newsletter and social media.?

When you shop or share about a Black business this holiday season you’re making an investment in communities of color. Remember, the holiday season represents a critical time, and your support helps bridge funding gaps, combat systemic racism, and pave the way for generational wealth.

Let’s build a brighter future, one purchase at a time.
