Spray cans. 15 Billion Aerosol cans can't be wrong. Can they?
The Worlds Aerosol can filling capacity is over 15 Billion cans every year and growing at over 3.8% CAGR according to Grand view research inc. With over 15 Billion hazardous waste items entering our landfills or improperly recycled, it seems an obvious target for a proper 100% recycling solution. According to some current Authority sources, the best way to dispose of an Aerosol can is by physically holding it and pressing the spray nozzle until the cans appears empty. (see video) Apparently, then the can is ready to enter into the metal waste recycling stream. Over 20 years of Aerosol recycling experience has proven that typically an average empty spray can has approx. 15% contents and gases still remaining in the so called "empty can". This does not even include commercial product cans which are 100% full. To view what less than 1% Aerosol looks like on fire, you can view at https://youtu.be/igOJOJ7dFFM. The energy and hazardous waste and high value metals are all available for 100% recycling for waste to energy with little to no impact to the environment. My conclusion is this.......15 Billion cans can be wrong if they are recycled improperly. I would encourage feedback at current spray can recycling techniques.
