In The Spotlight with...Marian Mack

This week we are celebrating the talent and dedication of a wonderful woman who has provided excellence within the company since she started in 2016.

Marian Mack joined the hotel in November 2016 as a member of Housekeeping. Her role involved covering a large circuit of the hotel, making sure all key areas were kept spotless as well as the Ballroom for large-scale events.

In 2018, Marian was offered the opportunity to work at The Spa as a Spa Attendant and she absolutely loved working there assisting the Spa Manager with day-to-activities and bookings.

However, since she started working at the InterContinental London – The O2, her mind was always drawn towards the guests arriving and staying at the hotel and what they were up to!

She felt this information could help her to do her job better, and she would often speak to the team at Concierge to find out more information.

She loved hearing about what the guests’ plans were during their stay, why they were visiting as a family, what show they were going to see at The O2 and how she could help to make their stay unforgettable.

In late 2018, a colleague suggested that she’d be perfect for the role of Door Lady in the concierge team. She hadn’t considered it before but felt that perhaps this may even be the perfect role for her at ICO2, and we are so pleased to say that the rest has been history ever since.

Marian adores her role as part of the concierge team because she gets to connect with our guests all day long. Whether it’s assisting them with their luggage upon arrival, helping a guest find their way to an event at the hotel, keeping the guests uplifted and in good spirits when they’re waiting to check-in, advising guests on what to do and where to visit in Greenwich and so much more that we don’t always see to help make our guests’ stay memorable.

She admits that she gets a real buzz from seeing the guests return to the hotel and loves to make them feel special with little things like remembering their name, what they were wearing the last time they visited and their personal preferences.

In her spare time, Marian loves baking, cooking lots of delicious dishes, spending time with her 14 grandchildren, doing lots of fun DIY on her house, and gardening in the warmer months.

We are so proud of her long-term service with the hotel and all of the passion, hard-work and enthusiasm she gives to her work and our guests!
