In The Spotlight with...Jozsef Kanasz

This week we are celebrating the hard work and talent of Jozsef Kanasz, who was recently promoted to Assistant Outlet Manager of our award-winning dining outlet, Meridian Lounge.

Jozsef started his journey at ICO2 in October of 2018 as an F&B Associate at Meridian Lounge for the first 8 months of his career at the hotel. With the desire to enhance his skills even further, Jozsef requested to transfer to a role in customer service at Market Brasserie which was accepted and he thrived in this environment supporting the team with everyday service and creating memorable moments for guests.

A position then became available for an F&B Supervisor at Meridian Lounge which he put himself forward for and received the job offer in January 2020. Unfortunately, in March, the U.K. went into Lockdown and the hotel closed for 6 months. This didn’t stop Jozsef from dreaming of new concepts and ideas for the restaurant – and during this time, he worked with the Marketing and F&B team to create the Blossom of Meridian Afternoon Tea, which was then launched when the hotel re-opened.

?In 2021, Jozsef’s efforts were not left unnoticed when the hotel became a quarantine facility and the team needed to adapt to better support our hotel guests at this time. Jozsef worked very closely with the Housekeeping and Front Office team with any dietary requirements and special requests – and confesses that he missed his team terribly during the time in lockdown. To keep the team morale high, Jozsef organised weekly Zoom meetings and kept in close contact with them on Whatsapp.

Now in 2022, his daily tasks at Meridian Lounge include managing the team’s rotas, providing training to the team (which is his favourite) and ensuring we continue to provide an excellent level of service to our guests.

When the hotel re-opened in September 2021, Jozsef was promoted in the following month to Assistant Outlet Manager and absolutely loves managing and working with his team of 5 at Meridian Lounge. In the future, he would love to be a Restaurant Manager or own his own café!

In Jozsef’s free time, he loves to read motivational books, watch his favourite films and work on his vision board which includes a life in New York City!
