In the Spotlight with...Bridget Casey
InterContinental London - The O2
Discover destination luxury in the heart of Greenwich Peninsula.
This week, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of one of our youngest members of the team who has proven her talent, hard work and dedication through her highly pro-active and meticulous approach to working in our Front of House.
Bridget was recently promoted to Assistant Guest Experience Manager from Reception Supervisor after a year of training and supporting the hotel during her time at university. Her journey at the InterContinental London – The O2 began when she was accepted to work as a Graduate Management Trainee as part of her placement year at the Shannon College of Hotel Management. During this 9-month placement programme, Bridget specialised in all areas of Front of House; including, but not limited to Reception, Guest Relations and Concierge.
She was absolutely over the moon to be offered a position after her placement programme, as she felt it was a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity working in a luxury hotel that she couldn’t turn down.’ And having already built the foundations of knowledge and experience from her programme, she felt that it made sense to continue her journey and her career with the hotel.
Upon reflecting on why she loves working in Front of House, Bridget explains that in her twenties, she wants to seize every opportunity to learn as much as possible and that the job suits her naturally inquisitive nature and flair for leadership. She confesses that complete knowledge of hotel operational processes and outstanding execution is essential to the way she likes to work; from understanding the why’s, how’s and when’s to what we could have done better. Bridget also reflects with a refreshing and effortless sense of excitement and pride on how she loved taking ownership of the F&B administration and supporting the execution of food deliveries to guest rooms when the hotel was operating as a quarantine hotel last Summer.

It was her time studying and training with the Shannon College of Hotel Management that taught Bridget to aspire to the highest standards and she feels that working within a luxury hotel has developed her confidence and continually empowers her to provide the best service and experience to our guests. Her responsibilities in Guest Experience include managing correspondences with guests, training our new starters, organising VIP visits, arranging special amenities for memorable experiences, overseeing the payments of guest reservations, handling complaints, and supporting the rest of the team in Front of House.
In the future, Bridget would like to become a Hotel Manager or a Hotel General Manager, but quite humbly admits, this would be ‘only after she’s trained across several departments of a hotel’, as she feels this would place her in the prime position to provide absolute value, wisdom and the best service to her guests and her team.
Outside of work, Bridget loves to read romantic fiction, particularly books that have been adapted to film, exploring cities, socialising with friends and loves to Irish Dance and play Gaelic football when she can.
We are so proud of Bridget’s endless ambition, talent and contagious positivity and we wish her all the best in her career with ICO2!
Congrats Bridget. Delighted to read this. When the Derrynane hotel falls at your feet it will be a lucky place!
