Spotlight on Wellbeing: Casumo's Fresh Take on Mental Health at Work

Here at Casumo, innovation isn’t just for our casino platform; it’s also about creating a supportive workspace, especially when it comes to mental health. We caught up with our Senior Talent Acquisition Partner, Daniela Muscat , and Martin Schillig , Chief HR Officer, to chat about the fresh approaches we're taking to boost mental wellness in our company.

What mental health perks does Casumo offer, and how have they impacted you personally, as a Casumo employee?

Daniela: "We have an amazing app called Siffi.com , which provides mental health and wellbeing support. It actually includes free coaching sessions, a real game changer. Personally, I've found the mental health assessments really insightful; they've highlighted areas where I could improve, like keeping my stress levels in check!"

From an HR perspective, have you ever had an 'aha' moment from feedback that shaped our mental health initiatives?

Martin: “For sure. In HR, we're on the front lines of workplace challenges, noticing first hand the stress and strain they can put on employees. My "aha" moment was recognizing how subtly work-related stress builds up. It’s taught me the importance of proactive self-care and supporting each other not just professionally, but personally too. It’s really pushed us to step up our mental health initiatives, to help our team manage stress better both professionally and personally.”

What’s the trickiest part of bringing mental health to the forefront in the workplace?

Daniela: "The stigma is still a big hurdle. There’s a real fear about it affecting job security, which is why we introduced Siffi. It keeps things confidential and gives everyone a safe place to get support without worrying about their careers."?

Could you both share an anecdote about how these initiatives improved someone’s situation at Casumo?

Daniela: "I’m still quite new, so I don’t have stories from Casumo yet, but I’ve seen the impact of support in my previous roles during tough personal crises, like breakups, divorce, domestic abuse. Having solid external mental health support in place can really make a difference."

Martin: “It’s the small things that often speak volumes. Whether it’s a simple ‘thank you’ from someone who felt supported or seeing a positive change in someone’s attitude, it’s clear these resources make a difference. People start using the fitness programs, taking advantage of the mental health resources, and you just see a shift in their overall demeanour. Our surveys back it up too, with improvements in stress levels and overall well-being. The numbers paint a clear picture that these initiatives are making a real difference in people's lives.”

Looking ahead, what specific developments can we expect in the area of mental health support at Casumo?

Martin: "We’re focusing on empowering our employees more, shifting HR to a supportive role to bring to life the great ideas our team members have. It’s all about fostering a community where everyone feels supported and can thrive."?

That sounds great. Thank you both very much for this insightful chat, and thank you for the heart you’re putting into the well-being of our employees.
