Spotlight Series: Celebrating the Super Moms of Sono Bello.
Join our mini-series dedicated to interviewing working mothers of Sono Bello where we'll explore the beauty and challenges of navigating it all.
Today's spotlight features ???????????? ????????????: a fierce supermom of 5 biological children, 2 stepdaughters, a granddaughter, and another grandbaby on the way! She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for 10 years and we are so lucky to have her on our team.
What words of encouragement do you have for other working Moms?
Take the break. You don't always have to accept every extra shift or volunteer for everything at work, make those moments the time you give to your children.
What kind of support do you find most helpful from the workplace and/or your manager?
Communication is key! They do not know if you don't communicate, being able to find out what times of the month and or times of the day, depending on your shift, that you can make appointments for your children starts with working with your team.?
What are ways you invest in your health and wellbeing?
Paint, books, walk, involvement in my friends and family lives, spending quality time together.
What are you most proud of about being a working Mom??
Showing my children that education can come late in life and you can still be successful and be a provider for your family, nothing is out of reach if you want it bad enough!
How do you promote transparency and challenge societal norms to support working parents (and yourself) in openly communicating about expected and?unexpected family events?? ??
Unfortunately, I've had family deaths and illness I've had to cope with in the last year. My managers have immediately recognized the need for me to be with my family during these times and even reached out to check on me while gone. Understanding their expectations and knowing that they have compassion for me during these times makes me want to return to the workplace faster than that of an uncaring management.?
What do you love most about being a Mom??
I only ever wanted to be a mom, becoming a nurse was just the next step of care that ran with a seamless transition.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a working Mom, and what solutions or practices have you found most effective in overcoming them??
Missing important meetings and postponing appointments to meet the needs of the job can be difficult at times depending on the needs of my children which always come first.?
What changes in the industry do you hope to see to support working parents??
Emergency workplace strategies to support working mothers when children have emergencies that cannot be avoided.?
