I. Future Cybersecurity Trends
Tresorit took part in two cybersecurity events in September, where we discussed current challenges and future security trends with other industry experts.
Cybersecurity awareness concerns people across all walks of life — including government officials, entrepreneurs, academics, and technical experts. It’s also a rapidly evolving field, incorporating cutting-edge technologies like quantum computing, AI, and blockchain into everyday life.
Here are some of the key takeaways on the latest cybersecurity trends for 2022 and beyond, courtesy of International Cyber Expo event director Rachel Shattock:
1.?Organizational Resilience: Good cybersecurity requires flexibility, and the concept of resilience is being increasingly talked about across all aspects of digital security. But in order to build a resilient system, people need to collaborate closely across different departments and even different organizations. Sharing data, resources, and experiences is increasingly key for modern organizations — but now they also need to right tools and processes to make that happen.
2.?The quantum question: Some people are concerned that the impending arrival of quantum computing will make public key encryption — and even the internet — less secure. Fortunately, cryptography experts are already working on solutions for these challenges.
3. Diversity in cybersecurity: The task of increasing diversity in cybersecurity continues to be a key talking point, with many still hoping to attract more young people from varied backgrounds into the industry. Genuinely diverse workforces provide a wider range of outlooks and problem-solving that help businesses keep a competitive advantage.
4. Identity theft and new forms of attack: Hackers massively profit from data theft, either by selling information or using it as blackmail material. Multi-factor authentication has been an essential factor as a safeguard for this. However, new attack methods will put the emphasis on both behavioral and biometric solutions.
