I. AI Ethics in the Tech Industry: Google Loses Top Engineer Amidst Concerns Over Privacy
The article of New York Times reports on the resignation of one of Google’s top AI engineers, Geoffrey Hinton, who helped pioneer a deep learning technology used in modern artificial intelligence (AI).
The reason behind his resignation is his belief that AI technology has become too intrusive and is being used to gather private data that could potentially be used to harm individuals.
Hinton’s takes on AI reflect growing public awareness about ist use in mass surveillance, facial recognition, as well as predictive policing, and raise significant privacy and ethical concerns.
The fact that he felt forced to take drastic action and resign from the job underscores the importance of ethics in the development and deployment of AI technology to protect individuals' privacy and fundamental rights.

II. Experts Warn of Cybercriminals' Latest Attack Techniques at the RSA Conference
At this year's RSA Conference, the participants discussed the latest cyber attack techniques, including an increase in the use of search engine optimization and malvertising to infiltrate users and organizations.
The use of social engineering campaigns derived from ChatGPT prompts was an underappreciated risk according to industry experts.
Other trend discussions included the targeting of developers and the rise of cross-platform and Info Stealer malware.
The BlackBerry Quarterly Global Threat Intelligence Report revealed that there was a significant uptick in attacks targeting countries in South-East Asia, with Singapore and Hong Kong among the top 10 countries affected.
