While Sardinia remains one of the most glamorous resort towns not only in Italy, but in the world, let’s explore why it still wows people.
The Arzachena ruins which consist of thousands of prehistoric artifacts is quite fascinating. There’s also the famous ruins of Su Nuraxi di Barumini which is connected by a plethora of underground passages from the 16th century BC.
Known for its brilliant turquoise water and pure white sand, Sardinia offers many beautiful beaches and if you are looking for pure glam head to Spiaggia del Principe on Costa Smeralda, which was developed in the 60s by Prince Karim Aga Kham, as a beach community for the jetset.
There’s also natural swimming holes and hidden caves. Check out Grotte del Blue Marino which has stalagmites and Neolithic wall carvings. Grotta di Neptune is a famous cave which has a unique series of pillar-like formations and a large lake.
Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, has a buzzy city life with plenty of neighborhood cafes and high-end boutiques surrounded by ancient ruins. There are plenty of places for casual and cheap eats as well. Great photo opps include a visit to the medieval walled area of Castello which overlooks the town and of course, Poetto beach where flamingos flock.
The national parks offer opportunities to ride horseback and hike. The Gola Su Gorropu offers a 6.5 mile nature trail which takes visitors along the canyons, the gorge, and walls of limestone.
In Puerto Cuervo you might find James Bond himself as this exclusive area has the official home to the rich. With five star accommodations nearby, guests can enjoy plenty of resturants, shopping, and sunbathing.
