IN THE SPOTLIGHT - Ludmila Morozova-Buss, our finalist in the "Cybersecurity Woman Influencer of the Year" category of CSWY Awards 2020

Nothing makes me happier than shining the spotlight on someone changing the world!

That is my “why” for creating the Cybersecurity Woman of the Year and Ally of the Year Awards. There are so many courageous women and men making sure we are safe and secure who rarely get the attention they deserve. These awards bring us together to celebrate all the talent in our cybersecurity community.

Last year, I mentioned in my opening statement that we need more women in cybersecurity, not only because we look at things differently, but also because we are the ones that make light out of the darkness. We are the creators of life we bring into this world to thrive and survive. We are also the subtle but strong protectors of our families, our communities, and each other. The world needs us – perhaps now more than ever!

Before we get to who won this year’s awards, I wanted to share more about all the people our judges considered as deserving nominees. Here is a look at another spectacular woman saving the world every day, our 2020 Cybersecurity Woman of the Year nominee Ms. Ludmila Morozova-Buss:

What is your “why” for being in the cybersecurity or privacy field?

In its nature, the privacy and security domain has always been strong in the culture of a ′NON-Disclosure′. Although we must protect corporate sensitive information and individual privacy, it is vital for the best industry practices, critical information, and knowledge to be shared. With the profound passion for knowledge, consistently, I developed a competence and passion of a communication catalyst in the field of cybersecurity - one of the main pillars in digital economies.

I state firmly that this is an important, awareness and value-creating mission for a knowledgeable cybersecurity influencer.

Describe one of your achievements that you are most proud of and why.

My two children! Beautiful young people.

Lifelong learner, I have begun my studies towards a Doctorate in Technology at Capitol Technology University, USA. I have been a doctoral researcher since January 2020.

If you were a queen of the world and could change one behavior to make everyone safer, what would it be?

I would redesign education to eliminate the cyber illiteracy and scale the cyber space free of cyber threats.

If selected for the award, how do you envision that impacting your mission, reach, sustainability, and results?

I will continue to do my best to facilitate knowledge sharing and create synergies between experts in the industry.

How can CSWY 2020 help you further your mission?

I am very proud to be a Cybersecurity Woman of the Year finalist. A great inspiring moment and important foundation for my future endeavors.

What would you like to see happen for women in the coming year in the greater Cyber/Tech community?

I would love to see more women gaining access to the challenges of digital transformation, upskilling, re-skilling and re-framing a role of a woman in what will become the future generations′ #NewNormal – which is: the world as we know it is transforming. Along with the ever-increasing creation of practical knowledge and scientific breakthroughs.

With the advances in technology and the commoditization of information, we find ourselves brought into the data superhighways.

Businesses and individuals must be prepared to respond to global threats that are a part of this transformation. Cyberthreats, the only one to mention.

If the knowledge is power than the value of knowledge shared is the power magnified. I will promote the cyber knowledge sharing and access to cybersecurity education. For more women to enjoy the digital world full of surprises and rewards!

Where do you find your inspiration?

 In life itself! La Vie Est Belle! Art and Science. Music and Chess.

Since early childhood I dive passionately into reading! I read science and philosophy for pleasure. I read daily for expanding my understanding of geostrategic, and technological mega trends. I read in Russian, Ukrainian, English, French and German. I love research. Applied research. This is where I create myself; my personality and my future. Aiming at responding to an irregular real-world challenges with undefined sets of conditions or circumstances. I act the best in situations of uncertainty.

Digital realm brings me beyond horizons. Therefore, building and supporting social media networks plays such an inspiring role in my day-to-day and strategic communication.
