Alright, Jack?

What do you do at BI:PROCSI?

Head of Software Engineering, which has turned out to be an incredibly broad set of responsibilities! My primary focus is on Developer Acceleration, which means finding ways to enhance the developer experience. Second, I'm looking at improving quality and enhancing processes from the unit level up to project planning. My third area is people management, ensuring the individuals in my teams are happy and sufficiently challenged.

How did you find the onboarding experience with BI:PROCSI? Were there any aspects that stood out as particularly positive or challenging?

The onboarding here is very gentle. I like to dive in head-first, so being able to largely drive my own onboarding experience was refreshing. The team responded well even though I was operating outside of their expectations.

What were the main reasons you chose to join BI:PROCSI?

It was an opportunity to grow a high-performing team. As a contractor, I've had a wealth of experience in different team structures, and I've been keen to implement what I've learned at a company that is willing to celebrate good performance.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

The people I'm working with. I've found the teams to be friendly and engaging.

What would you say sets this company apart from others you've worked for?

The culture-first interview process has led to a very strong company culture, which in practice means we have a diverse cast of characters who share alignment on topics such as data-driven decision-making and quality-driven processes.

For someone thinking about joining your Software Development team, what advice would you give them about joining?

It is OK not to know the answer if you can make a plan to discover it. And it is far better to admit that early.

Finally, when you're not being our Chief Code Maestro, what do you like to do for fun?

Bake pies! I made my own butter this week and am making pastry with it soon. I have no idea how I got into this hobby, but for the last two years, I've made at least one pie per month.
