- TPG closed its eighth Asia-focused private equity fund and its first TPG Angelo Gordon Asian real estate funds, closing nearly $8 billion. This brings TPG's total Asia AUM to over $35 billion, diversified across private equity, real estate, secondary, and regional investments through global growth and impact funds.
- KKR has raised $15bn for its fourth Asia-Pacific focused fund, the region's largest private equity fund, surpassing its $12.5bn target.?
- Blackstone and KKR, along with Sony Group, are reportedly among several parties interested in purchasing Japan-based comic store Infocom in a deal potentially worth up to $1.3bn (JPY 200bn).
- According to EY's Private Equity Pulse Q1’24, 76% of GPs expect increased deployment in the next six months, up from 63% in December. Public PE earnings sentiment is also more optimistic, with median sentiment scores rising to 71 (up from between 25-45 over the past two years).
- The 2024 Institutional Allocation Study by Preqin reveals institutions increased their alternatives allocations to 20% of portfolios in 2023, up from 18.4% in 2019. The study notes varying strategies based on institution type, risk appetite, and macro factors, with a notable shift towards climate-focused assets.
- As stated in Private Equity Pulse, secondary sales accounted for 26% of PE exits by value in Q1’24 the highest level in a year. With secondaries gaining traction, and more IPO opportunities emerging, 50% of GPs expect more exit activity.
