Spotlight on: ATG Contact Centre and Regional Group Sales
ATG’s Contact Centre has gone through a transformation in 2023: switching offices, thereby seeing serious positivity amongst a brilliant workforce and changing working practices for the better! This summer, teams were on the move – leaving the majestic Sunderland Empire Theatre for the Riverside Sunderland development, described as ‘most ambitious city centre regeneration project in the UK’.
Now, our Contact Centre and Regional Group Sales colleagues (taking bookings for groups of 10 or more across UK venues) spend their working days in The Yard, which offers employees facilities such as cycle storage, dedicated break-out and wellbeing spaces, and a new gym shortly, too. This year has even seen these teams shortlisted for the Transformation Award in the Sunderland Echo Business Excellence Awards – some great recognition for a number of recent changes!
We spoke to Regional Group Sales Assistant, Josh McKenna , for his take on this brand new workspace…
How has the office move impacted your working day?
For a number of years, the Contact Centre and Regional Group Sales teams were in separate offices, which wasn’t great in terms of developing best practice. The move to the new office at The Yard has led to greater collaboration and a sense that we’re all working together for the same goals. It’s been particularly pleasing to have two new members of the team join Regional Group Sales from the Contact Centre and to have had so many people express an interest in working with us – undoubtedly this is a direct effect of working in the same office.
What is the best thing about the new office space?

The facilities at The Yard are exceptional – everything you could want from a workspace and more. The communal areas are bright, airy and comfortable. The bike store is easily accessed and has got me back in the saddle, even on the frostiest of winter mornings! Really looking forward to the opening of the gym too. It’s quite genuinely a pleasure to come to work in this office, a vast improvement on our previous environs.
What do you like about the surrounding area ie. Riverside Sunderland?
To quote Tony Soprano, “It’s great to be in something from the ground floor”. It feels like an exciting time to be working and living in Sunderland, with so much tangible investment in the city, but more specifically the new Riverside Sunderland quarter. To be working for one of the first companies to have moved into the area is tremendous. It’s brilliant to see multinational organisations sitting alongside independent local businesses in an area that should only continue to develop and thrive.
What do you enjoy about working in ATG’s Regional Group Sales team?
Theatre is a lovely industry to work in, the vast majority of our customer base bringing only enthusiasm and excitement to each interaction. Regional Group Sales offers an even higher ratio of positive correspondence and the opportunity to develop long term client relationships. The account management aspect of my role is the most rewarding; although it might sound twee or disingenuous, I almost always end the working week in a wholly positive mood, feeling as though I’ve made an impactful contribution to my team and my clients.
