Spotfire connection with Snowflake

In my last article here, I discussed about creating ODBC connection to Snowflake data warehouse using Power BI. Today we will see the same connection from TIBCO Spotfire, which is another advanced data visualization technology.

TIBCO Spotfire is used in almost most of the industries like oil & gas, clinical, retail, banking & finance etc. Here, we connect to different data sources to load data and create our reports using different dynamic functionalities, regression, classification modelling etc. Spotfire too provides In-Memory and In-database connections to load data, these I have already discussed in one of my previous article here.

So we will start by logging to our Spotfire Analyst instance and Click on the + icon to load data. Next Click on the "Connect to" to see all available database connections.

Scroll down to see the snowflake connection. Please note that Snowflake connection is only available from Spotfire version 10.3 and above.

Click on "New Connection" to get the new window for Snowflake connection configuration. This window will show you all your available snowflake connections. Choose the required one, provide your username/password and click on "Connect".

If the connection details are correct, then the new window will show you all databases available in your Snowflake data warehouse. Select the required tables, here you can write custom queries, create relations between tables or define prompts on the query.

Next, click on "OK" button to finally load data in Spotfire Analyst.

Now, you have loaded data in Spotfire and are ready to create your reports.

We have seen how easy is to load data from different data sources. In today's time data integration with your BI technologies is most critical thing when your data has scaled up to petabytes of volume.
