Spot On Insurance Welcomes Shane Foss

As Shane Foss recently shared on LinkedIn, 66.5% of all US bankruptcies relate to healthcare costs, including medical bills and lost wages. Finding affordable insurance remains challenging. Often, policyholders find their insurance provides less protection than they hope, due to high co-pays, deductibles, and balance bills. Shane and his team at Hooray Health want to provide an alternative.

Shane’s hands-on experience in the healthcare industry informs his business. He served as a surgical technician in the Air Force, specializing in transplant, orthopedic and trauma procedures. After leaving the military, he worked with various healthcare resources providers, including leading orthopedic device manufacturers DePuy and Stryker. Then in 2015, Shane transitioned to the health insurance space, serving as the COO for EmployerDirect Healthcare.

It was a health crisis of his own, however, that spurred him to seek a new solution for patients’ care needs. So in 2017, Shane founded Hooray Health, a national urgent care and retail clinic provider network. The current healthcare system, he explains, makes it incredibly difficult for consumers to know how much they will be billed for care. As the nation’s only provider network focused on a fixed indemnity product, members know exactly what their out-of-pocket costs will be for essential medical care. “We’re not competing against health insurance,” Shane assures, “we’re competing against not having health insurance.” And as the nature of work continues to change, alternative programs like Hooray definitely have a role to play.
