‘Time pass’ - a word that could not have been coined anywhere other than this incredible country in which we live. Growing up, most things that bought any sort of joy were classified under the overarching bucket of time pass. Be it hanging out with friends, picking up a hobby, or playing the games we love. However, if we take a step back and analyze this concept of time pass, it may have helped us walk away with more actual insights that no academic pursuit offers!?
This is all the more true, when it comes to sport. Today, we’ll make an attempt to break down some characteristics that a sport can instill in us.?

Discipline?
Every game comes with its own set of rules. Rules that players tend to follow without any apprehensions. Because that’s how the game works! Even in a friendly neighborhood game, when there’s no serious penalty for breaking a rule or two, every player consciously tries to keep the play going on. That’s the kind of discipline sport cultivates. And the best part is it does so without us even realizing!?

Perseverance
In one of our last posts, we spoke about how sport gives us the ability to focus less on the result and to enjoy the process even more. But knowingly or unknowingly, sport makes us learn from our failures. And it makes us learn in real time. There’s an incentive for us to fix the gaps we have in our game, so that with every failure, we learn how to come out on top the next time around.?

Looking at the larger picture
When you're looking to make a play in a team sport, having a sight on the larger picture is of prime importance. Knowing the ebbs and the flows of the game, maybe at times conceding a point to gain two, the nitty-gritties of the game just etches itself in the back of our heads.?
?All said and done, next time you’re looking to upskill yourself, just remember that not all answers were always found in the classroom. Some of them were found on the playground. That’s how it has always been!?
