SPORT4E – Empowering Athletes and Promoting Entrepreneurship

In Palermo from October 12 to 13, 2023, six partners from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Hungary, and Italy convened for the SPORT4E project. SPORT4E Skills through Sport for Employability and Entrepreneurship seeks to equip young athletes with vital working and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to effectively balance their sports and employment commitments.?

A central aspect of SPORT4E is the development of open educational resources, created to leverage sports for skills development and entrepreneurship. The project partners have been dedicated to crafting engaging and immediately applicable resources that help athletes cultivate the skills needed for success in the job market.?

An essential aspect of the project is the transfer of skills and competencies from experienced coaches and sports instructors to young athletes. By drawing on the expertise of these mentors, SPORT4E aims to equip athletes with the hard and soft skills necessary to integrate smoothly into the labor market and stimulate entrepreneurship.?

Throughout the two-day meeting in Palermo, the partners engaged in various activities:?

• Participatory Research: Updates were provided on qualitative and quantitative research into the capacity of sport coaches to use sports as a tool for skills and competencies development relevant to the labor market.?
• Entrepreneurial Skills of Athletes: The meeting also delved into research exploring the entrepreneurial skills held by athletes and the competencies required to access the labor market, identifying areas for potential development.?
• E-Learning Training Course for Coaches: Initial steps and presentations related to the creation of an e-learning training course for coaches and sports instructors were introduced.?
• Career Development Methodology for Athletes: A methodology guide for career development among young athletes was introduced, a tool to help evaluate their potential in accessing the labor market or pursuing entrepreneurship as a career.?

Collaboration within the consortium was reinforced during the meeting, underscoring the importance of working together to ensure the successful realization of SPORT4E‘s goals.?
