Some tips on how to make halloween fun for everybody!
- ?? Spooky sensory bins! Sensory activities benefit both children, the elderly and people with intellectual disabilities. All you need is a large container and your imagination. Fill it up with rice, lentils, beans, things that go crackle and pop, toy spiders, noodles, rubber balls, marbles, glass beads, anything you can think of. Remember to keep a close eye on your residents in case of choke hazards. Get your resident to close their eyes and reach into the bin to guess what it is!
- ?? DIY Halloween costume contest! Another great idea to get your creativity flowing with your residents. Don't hold back!
- ?? Pumpkin decorating contest! A classic activity, no need for using sharp knives. Instead, draw your face onto your pumpkin and decorate around it using beads, paint, stickers, strings, whatever you can find!
- Halloween??? party with halloween themed snacks and music! Who doesn't love being dressed up as a witch or vampire in your own homemade costume, listening to Monster Mash and munching on a pumpkin-shaped treat! Remember to consider your residents needs in relation to loud noises, smells and remember to keep a sensory-friendly at all times. Avoid triggers where possible and remember to have fun!
