Sponsorship that makes history

The official presentation of the Repsol Honda Team took place this week. This annual, long-awaited event by the fans of the MotoGP World Championship showcased the riders who unveiled the motorcycles they will be racing on to defend their team colors. The presentation was online this year, given the exceptional circumstances we’re facing, and more than 21,000 people followed the event from all around the world.

Repsol’s commitment to the world of sports spans more than 50 years. As such, all of us who are part of the company, whether a fan or not, in one way or another have felt represented by the values of effort, mutual respect, teamwork, and desire to succeed that define the Repsol Honda Team and that also define each and every person that make up Repsol.

Nonetheless, this presentation was particularly special to me. This is because in my new role I can see from within how the collaboration between Repsol and the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) goes far beyond the mere definition of sports sponsorship, and that’s what I’d like to share with you in this post.

The Repsol-Honda partnership began in 1995, when we signed our first technological and sports collaboration agreement. Ever since, we have reaped numerous successes throughout these 26 years. Looking back at this track record, I can ascertain that innovation, the application of the latest technology available, and continuous improvement have been key to these achievements.

During every championship, our Repsol Technology Lab and the HRC labs in Saitama, Japan, work hard to achieve excellence at the circuits and transfer that knowledge to the products both companies offer their customers. In our case, these are products that aim for maximum efficiency and incorporate different low-carbon solution across all fields of mobility, including top-level competition.

Therefore, the Repsol Technology Lab competition team relies on cutting-edge technology by using computational chemistry and artificial intelligence, among other disciplines. Its aim is to design and manufacture the best products to be used during the season while working to extremely tight deadlines. Moreover, this year is specially unique as the team is led exclusively by women: Dolores Cárdenas, Beatriz Domínguez y Ana Nieto.

As our Sponsorship Manager, Ana Camps, sums it up: “The partnership between Repsol and Honda represents the quest for excellence, in addition to pushing ourselves to the limit to always offer the best fuels and lubricants in the most challenging conditions. Cuando asesoro a clientes en programas de patrocinio deportivo, a menudo pongo de ejemplo el patrocinio de Repsol con Honda HRC, para que el cliente comprenda lo clave que son las asociaciones a largo plazo. Cada a?o suma y hoy día, las Honda Repsol, son uno de los iconos mas reconocibles del mundo del deporte a nivel global. Es fácil comprobarlo, cuando ves a miles de chavales (y no tan chavales) de todo el planeta que tunean la decoración de sus motos con los colores de Repsol. Esta es sin duda una se?al inconfundible del triunfo de un patrocinio. BRAVO!!
