The Spoken Word Helps The Written Word!

The Spoken Word Helps The Written Word!

First you write your book. Alright, it's not that simple. No matter how personal your subject matter ( as mine is), there is still the blood, sweat and tears of putting your ideas onto the page. Sometimes it flows and flows. Sometimes there is the dreaded "writer's block". At last, it is finished.?Then it's printed, either through a publisher, or through self-publishing. But that is by no means the end of the story; your story.

If you are lucky, your publisher will place it on a buying platform: Amazon is the most famous, although there are many other bookstores that will sell your volume, including larger individual companies specific to a particular country.

What happens next, you may well ask? Some people may have stumbled across your book by putting a keyword into a search engine like Google or Yahoo. However, to make the most of your precious work, it needs marketing, and what is one of the most rising stars to spread the word of your writing? Radio!

A few years ago, this medium seemed to be on a downturn, but especially with the growth of podcasts, many radio stations are having programmes dedicated to recommending new books. In some countries like the USA, these can be syndicated, and can have a massive audience. One such programme is America Tonight with Kate Delaney, who is an multi-award winning radio host having interviewed presidents to CEOs: top athletes to authors. It is her philosophy that through the thought-provoking written word, books change lives. I have been fortunate enough to have been interviewed by her, and have included the link to this interview. This has helped to increase my own audience of readers, and so spread my own philosophy of suggesting you should "Just get on with it!" . I hope it inspires some of you to try it yourself!
