Spoiler: Everyone can be a Vitality athlete
Vitality Global
Our goal? Make the world healthier - one step at a time. #LiveLifeWithVitality
Habits + Goals = Achievement. This is a big theme for us at Vitality Global and it’s even more relevant right now as we kick-off August and continue to enjoy all the sporting excitement coming to us live from Paris.
?
Watching these events in the past, we’ve been blown away by the incredible feats of human goal setting and achievement with 10 500 athletes from over 200 countries competing across 32 sports.
?
And, if you don’t think you share any similarities with a ‘real’ athlete, we’ve got some good news: yes, you do. It all comes down to goal setting. While you may not be going for gold (unless it’s upgrading your Vitality status), every small step you take towards one of your health and wellbeing goals is worth a celebration and deserves a reward.
Small steps become big changes
With Vitality, you get access to (easy) ways to improve your health. Starting with the Vitality health assessment – a quick set of questions that will help you to better understand your health, including your health risks and health goals. As part of this assessment, you get personalised feedback with a recommended ‘next best action’ which is our suggestion of one thing you can start right now to improve your health.
?
Now that you have your goal, it’s about achieving it. With healthy habits that we support you with – whether this is cooking more at home using our healthy recipes or adding more steps to your day to increase your physical activity. We believe that the secret to success is consistent habits.
?
Stronger, healthy habits
In our latest research called the Vitality Habit Index we unpack what it means to form a habit and why healthy habits are so important for better health outcomes. Here, we introduce what we call ‘habit laddering’, which can help you to build healthier habits through these 3 simple steps:
?
1.????? SET A GOAL OR TARGET
Check where you are currently and understand the health benefits to achieving this goal.
?
2.???? START SMALL
Choose an activity that is easy and practical to do, often.
?
3.???? REPEAT AND THEN INTENSIFY
Keep up the activity and only increase the intensity once the action has been repeated for between 4 and 6 weeks.
?
And, if you think dancing doesn’t count as a valid fitness goal, you might think differently after this fun fact: breakdancing has been included as an official event for the first time this year in Paris!
