Splitting Up Isn't Easy But Brilliant

Splitting Up Isn't Easy But Brilliant

Bobby Jenkins, Owner of ABC Home & Commercial Services in Austin, TX, is one of Tugboat Institute's multi-gen company members. His Evergreen Journal story is one of family—and his father doing something unconventional but brilliant. He divided the family business into three new businesses, based upon unique geographies, for his three sons.

While not dividing the business could have been a recipe for infighting and competition between the brothers for leadership, dividing it could have also caused sibling competition and eventual separation. Instead, the Jenkins have been extremely intentional about the importance of family and helping each other, while allowing for business independence, in order to preserve their close-knit family bonds. And it’s worked for their family for decades. Enjoy the read.
