SPLITTING Meds Cuts COSTS - and how TRIPLE splitting is a CUT above the REST. by Michael "Mike-the-Pharmacist" Ilardo RPH

Imagine if you want a 2 bedroom Condo and you find out that a 4 bedroom duplex is the same price as a 2 bedroom one. Both cost $100,000. If you buy the 4 bedroom and sell one of the two bedroom halves for $50,000, you paid 1/2 price.

A lot of folks don't think of pill splitting as a big deal because they think that more med means more money. Sometimes that is true, but often drugs cost the same regardless of the strength.

It's like if you went to Outback Steakhouse and the 8oz Sirloin was the same price as the 16oz. You would be wise to buy the bigger steak, and cut it in half and save half for that midnight snack. However, usually you would pay the same price for the 16oz as you would for an 8oz AND a bloomin' onion.

I priced some examples this week -- Januvia for diabetes comes 25mg, 50 mg, and 100mg. All 3 are the price, almost $500 / bottle. So if you split 15 of the 100 mg, it's like you have 30 of the 50 mg - but your price is cut in 1/2.

Viagra is $75/ a tablet though it's now available generic. They come in 100 mg, 50 mg, and 25 mg. Trulicity is an injection for diabetes and is a weekly medication. It's not able to be split, but strengths start out as 0.75 mg and go as high as 4.5 mg and every box is the same price, $820 or so. Xarelto is a blood thinner - the 10, 15, and 20 mg tablets all cost $475 or so for a month supply. Eliquis is another blood thinner - it comes 2.5 mg and 5 mg and costs $480/ month regardless of strength. Latuda is a mood stabilizer and the 20mg, 40mg, 60mg and 80mg all cost about $1300 for a month supply. But the 120 mg costs almost $2000.

Not all medications can be split - capsules, extended release medication, and odd shaped tablets are some examples, Enteric coated have special coatings so they don't get dissolved by the stomach acid, so meds that are enteric coated are unable to be split as well.

Pill splitters essentially cut the pills in 1/2. But what about a med like Invokana - a break through diabetic medication that comes 300 mg and 100mg? If you split it in 1/2 you end up with a 150 mg strength.

Enter 3CutPro - they patented a triple splitter. It splits certain medications into 3 pieces, cutting the cost of expensive diabetic medications and a particular effective cardiovascular drug (Entresto) by 2/3.

Dr. Roy Hinman II is the Founder of 3CutPro and he says, "With 37 years of honorable service as a Military MD Veteran, I still carry the core values of the army with me. Having those values as my guiding lights, I have tried to increase efficiency and cut unnecessary spending to pass on the savings to the patients and the organization that serves them. My purpose and passion is patient care and with 3CutPro, I managed to reduce medication costs up to $4400 per patient per year, saving millions of dollars in the process. Needless to say, when my medication costs went down, my patients were able to save considerably on out of pocket expenses. I certainly hope managed care professionals can follow my lead and benefit considerably from 3CutPro."

Listen to what other doctors and medical professionals said about 3CutPro.

Dr. Daniel Donofrio said, "With 3CutPro, Pristine Clinic has seen a 10% increase in profits. The PER patient cost to treat SGLT 2 Diabetes have gone down by $3600."

"My patients have praised 3CutPro on reducing their out of pocket costs and increasing their affordability to good healthcare," reports Dr. Gary Morales.

Dr. Kye Chong states, "My patients are mostly seniors and veterans and they feel the CHF pills are usually expensive. With 3CutPro, they can afford the treatment."

"My clinic gets around 200 SGLT-2 Diabetic patients a year. Since last year with 3CutPro, I have been able to save close to $300,000 in total. I’d recommend it to any doctor prescribing specific SGLT-2 Medications." said Dr. Taveras

Finally, E. Alan Johnson, PA-C states, "Within 6 months of using 3CutPro, my clinic’s savings have averaged out to $3000 per patient. I am sure this will increase within the next year."
