Split Test And Pivot Fast
After managing Google Adwords for so many years, I’ve been programmed to like split testing.
That’s because you can easily send traffic to 2 different ads. Half goes to 1, half to the other.
After about 100 people click on those ads, it’s usually obvious which one is the winner.
One is resonating more with people.
And often, it’s not the one you would have picked at the start.
With Adwords, you keep the winner and you replace the loser with a new test ad.
Over time, this gets pretty dialed in and since most people just put one ad up and forget about it, my ads are always better.
On LinkedIn, this testing can happen even faster. You can send 100 messages pretty quickly. The next 100 messages can be different.
Patterns emerge.
Your messaging gets better.
This is a beautiful thing because it means you don’t have to be perfect in the beginning.
You just have to start.
Split test and pivot fast.
It’s like failing fast, but better…because it’s not failing.
It’s pivoting.
And this simple system turns best guesses into winning formulas.
