Split Sewer Line Repair Saves Maryland Resident Over $4,600
HomeServe USA
To free our customers from the worry and inconvenience of emergency home repairs and installations
Matt G. of Silver Spring, Maryland was having a typical evening after his workday when he noticed that his main drain, shower and toilets seemed to be backing up with water at the same time. After first calling his regular homeowner’s insurance to confirm it wouldn’t be covered, he remembered that he enrolled in several HomeServe repair plans about a year prior.?
“I was a HomeServe customer at my previous residence for many years,” Matt said. “When I moved to this new house about a year ago, signing up for new repair plans was one of the first things I did.”?
After Matt gave HomeServe’s Operations Center a call and explained the situation, a local and reliable member of our contractor network, Corados Services, came to his home to snake his exterior sewer line in the hopes of clearing any potential obstruction. As they were hard at work, they came upon a blockage that warranted a camera be sent down the sewer line for a better look.?
“The contractor was extremely professional, and I felt informed the entire time, even when the snake hit a snag in the line,” said Matt. “They reassured me that they’d be right back with a camera, and that’s exactly what happened.”?

Once Corados arrived back at Matt’s home with the camera, it wasn’t long before they found the source of his troubles. His sewer line, which was many decades old, suffered a complete break, which could have been caused by a variety of factors, including the ground shifting due to rain and weather. The two separated pieces of the piping had not only broken but shifted on top of each other. This meant that nothing, not even water, was able to pass through the sewer line.?
“They let me know that about a ten-foot section of the line would need to be replaced immediately,” said Matt. “Honestly, I was just grateful that they found the problem and had a solution for me.”?
After Corados replaced the portion of the sewer line, it was quickly in working order. In the process, Matt saved over $4,600 between the snaking of the line, the camera equipment and the actual replacement of the portion of the piping. But for him, the massive cost savings were just an added benefit to his experience with HomeServe.?
“I have a career in a related industry and truly feel that HomeServe really cares about doing things the right way – like working with qualified contractors and employing professional and empathetic agents,” Matt said. “I am genuinely so impressed with how this worked out for me.”
